Roku announce a new 4K UHD TV made by TCL

Television manufacturer TCL have announced they will be releasing a TV with the Roku 4K streaming service built in. This will be the first set with Roku installed to offer 4K.

For those new to streaming products Roku is a media streaming service with over 3000 channels and a powerful search engine to help you navigate those channels. Their primary products have been small set top boxes. In 2015 they branched out to include streaming software built into smart TV’s.

HDR Reference Design

Roku will be releasing what they call the “Roku TV HDR Reference Design” for TV partners to incorportate into the smart televisions. This will also include Dolby Vision tm HDR and support the HDR 10 standard. HDR Stands for High Dynamic Range and greatly improves the colour range and depth.


Availability & Pricing

Pricing in the US has not been announced but they will be released in the spring. Other partners will be releasing 4K sets in future so expect to see the odd model for sale in the UK soon.
